crocodile hunter, hunted

I was a little suprised at the tinge of sadness I had upon hearing of the death of Steve Irwin, Crocodile Hunter. Apparently I had some connection to the guy that I never realized was there.

The good part about his death, however, is the incredibly manly way in which he went. When I die, I hope my obituary can read "died of a stingray barb to the heart." Of course I don't want to actually die that way, I just want my obituary to say that I did.

I didn't realize that I loved him so much, too. I can't remember the last time I saw his show. It could have been a year ago. But, man, knowing he's dead, that just almost makes my life not worth living. That guy seemed like the most energetic person on the planet, and also seemed like he enjoyed doing what he did more than anyone else in the world enjoys doing what they do. For that reason, this is the saddest news I've heard in the last 5 years.
